Deepti Khera started her career in print journalism where she worked as an education journalist for Hindustan Times and Mumbai Mirror. Wanting to work in-depth on issues faced by children, she moved to the development sector, with a special focus on Child Rights. Deepti got an opportunity to work as a field researcher on Price of Free, a documentary on child labour and trafficking, that went on to win the Grand Jury Prize at the Sundance Film Festival. Deepti is new to the world of teaching and hopes to weave her work on child rights into everyday classroom practices. She is passionate to bring the voice of children to the forefront and is of the opinion that there is always something new to learn from children. She believes in democratic and participatory processes in classrooms. When Deepti is not working, she is thinking about social justice issues, reading children’s books, traveling, or enjoying pearls of wisdom by Calvin and Hobbes.
