Prioritising Student Wellbeing

Student Wellbeing

Creating a safe space that enhances & enriches our children's emotional health

Investing in student well-being is a priority for BIS. We have a robust Student Resource Centre (SRC) that runs various programs to support & nurture students, creating a safe space for the children.

The SRC has its doors open to children from Lower Prep (LP) all the way through Grade 12, through initiatives like well-being classes, circle time & one on one counselling. We have embraced SEE (Social Emotional Ethical) Learning as our over-arching theme, which fosters emotional, social as well as ethical intelligence in students.

SEE Learning is the culmination of an academic collaboration between Emory University & His Holiness the Dalai Lama.

IB Team’s Visit to BIS

IB Team’s Visit to BIS

BIS was honored to host Oksana, Camelia, and Sabina from the International Baccalaureate (IB) for an insightful day of discussions, classroom visits, and reflections on holistic education. Their visit provided a valuable opportunity to engage with faculty across subjects, from Theory of Knowledge (TOK) and Visual Arts to Sciences and Computer Science, where the impact of AI in learning was explored.

What stood out most to the IB visitors was the school’s deep sense of community and its ability to balance academic excellence with student well-being. They observed firsthand how BIS fosters a culture where students are engaged, curious, and empowered to think independently.

“The discussions were so rich, and the students were so immersed in learning that when the bell rang, they still wanted to contribute. That speaks volumes about how much they love learning here.”

Beyond students, the IB team recognized the dedication and collaborative spirit of BIS faculty—not just in their teaching, but in the way they mentor and guide students toward independent thinking.

“There is a deep understanding of IB pedagogy here—moving from teacher-guided learning to student-led learning, where students take ownership of their education.”

Grades 1-5 welcomed Ritu Saluja and Bindi Shah, who shared their knowledge and passion for community animals, inspiring us all to contribute to their well-being.

A huge shoutout to our Grade 1 students who went above and beyond for the cause! They handmade adorable stuffed sock animals and sold them to their schoolmates as part of a fundraiser for our furry friends on the street. Thanks to their hard work and creativity, they made a meaningful contribution to Terra Anima Trust, supporting animal welfare while also ensuring they can continue their incredible efforts!
