Student Wellbeing

Prioritising Student Wellbeing

Student Wellbeing

Creating a safe space that enhances & enriches our children's emotional health

Investing in student well-being is a priority for BIS. We have a robust Student Resource Centre (SRC) that runs various programs to support & nurture students, creating a safe space for the children.

The SRC has its doors open to children from Lower Prep (LP) all the way through Grade 12, through initiatives like well-being classes, circle time & one on one counselling. We have embraced SEE (Social Emotional Ethical) Learning as our over-arching theme, which fosters emotional, social as well as ethical intelligence in students.

SEE Learning is the culmination of an academic collaboration between Emory University & His Holiness the Dalai Lama.

Student Led Conferences

Student Led Conferences

Replacing the traditional end-of-year exam, the Grade 6 Student-Led Conference offered a dynamic and empowering platform for students to take ownership of their learning journey.
Our Student-Led Conference offered a powerful alternative to traditional end-of-year exams—one that put students at the centre of their learning journey. Over weeks of preparation, students reflected on their academic growth, carefully curated their portfolios, and practiced articulating their learning through multiple modes.

The event began with creative group presentations where students brought subject concepts to life through skits, songs, models, and live demonstrations. What followed was even more personal—a one-on-one portfolio walkthrough led by each student for their parents, sharing not just outcomes but insights, effort, and reflection.

By stepping into the role of presenter and guide, students developed clarity, confidence, and self-awareness. For teachers and parents, it was a window into the child’s thought process, their evolving strengths, and the areas they’re working to improve.

This meaningful alternative to traditional assessments highlighted the power of student voice and reinforced the idea that learning is not just about grades, but about growth, reflection, and active engagement.

BIS students hit the pool with energy and enthusiasm at Ascend’s very first inter-school Swimming Gala! From freestyle races to team relays, our swimmers brought home medals and memories — all while celebrating the joy of participation and friendly competition.

Building Biology: From Concepts to Creations

Building Biology: From Concepts to Creations

Grade 9 students didn’t just study biology—they built it. From plant translocation to human excretion, their hands-on models transformed concepts into creations. The Biology Exhibition was a reminder that true learning begins when we ask not just what is, but what else is possible.

Grade 5 PYPx: Rights & Goals

Grade 5 PYPx: Rights & Goals

From Art to Advocacy, From Models to Movements. Grade 5 students took us on a remarkable journey — exploring Human Rights and the Sustainable Development Goals through art, filmmaking, research, and hands-on models.

The PYP Exhibition was a true celebration of inquiry, empathy, and action — reminding us that even the youngest voices can imagine and inspire a better world.

We couldn’t be prouder of their passion, creativity, and commitment to positive change.
