Another unique aspect of BIS is the system of Class Representatives / Parents (CR) who co-ordinate and work closely with the teachers in multiple ways, taking initiatives and responsibility for certain specific tasks.

Each class has two class parents for the academic year, selected from among those whose children were studying in it. They volunteer in certain classroom activities, conducting one programme a week by involving other parents or outside resource persons. Involvement in such activity is more common for the class parents of the junior classes.

An important role of the class parents – initially mainly mothers, but now more than a few fathers too – is to facilitate communication between the teachers and parents. This has been particularly useful on the rare occasion when there has been a sudden emergency.
